 Course
Description
The Wild Pines Golf Course offers a competitive
course with outstanding vistas. The course was designed by golf architect
J. Christopher Commins, Principal with Sunshine Design and takes advantage
of the rugged mountain topography and the beautiful natural vegetation of
the site. Fairways are integrated with existing wetlands that become design
features. The overall golf course community covers approximately 465 acres
comprising the club, course and adjacent homesites.
Hole
#1 - Par 5 - 538 Yards
"Top of the World" - Hole #1 has a great view of Montage Mountain
35 miles away from all five tees. This hole falls 75' tee to green, so
many will be tempted to go for the green in two.
Hole
#2 - Par 4 - 378 Yards
"Lazy Bend" - This soft dog-leg right is downhill 30'. The
approach shot is to the right to avoid the bunkers that protect the green.
Hole
#3 - Par 3 - 228 Yards
The longest par 3 on the front side is accentuated by and uphill carry
and a long waste bunker of natural sand up the left side of the fairway.
Hole
#4 - Par 4 4- 30 Yards
From Hole #4 you can see the horizon 25 miles to the east from all 5
tees. It;s a par 4, downhill 50' to the green and is the last of the warm-up
holes.
Hole
#5 - Par 5 - 547 Yards
"Ox Bow Creek" - This long par 5 rising 30' crossed by an
ox-bow creek at 250 yards from the pro tee, 230 yards from the championship
tee and 217 yards from the members tee, requires most golfers to layup
for a three shot hole.
Hole
#6 - Par 3 - 182 Yards
"Into the Wind" - Hole #6 is a challenging par 3 that turns
into the prevailing wind and rises up to 30'. The right club choice is
paramount.
Hole
#7 - Par 5 - 537 Yards
"Coyote" - This long, narrow par 5 is crossed three times
by meandering streams and demands accuracy. The very best can reach the
green in two on the left side.
Hole
#8 - Par 3 - 158 Yards
The Shortest par 3 on the front side with the smallest and most bunkered
green demands an accurate tee shot.
Hole
#9 - Par 4 - 398 Yards
This inbound downhill 50' dog-leg right has a fabulous mountain view
from the approach shot to the green.
Hole
#10 - Par 4 - 343 Yards
"Eisenhower Tree" - This is our reachable par 4. Number 10
is downhill 79', 310 yards from the members tee and 240 yards from the
forward tee. The only obstacle is the "Eisenhower Tree" at 180
yards in the fairway. Panoramic views abound on this hole.
Hole
#11 - Par 5 - 575 Yards
"Black Spruce" - The longest par 5 at 575 yards is downhill
50' to the landing zone, then sharp do-leg left. This hole requires three
big shots. The natural "Black Spruce" trees along the right side
are a rare site in the Northeast - a gift from the Ice Age.
Hole
#12 - Par 3 - 180 Yard
"Island Green" - Our "Island Green" is surrounded
by natural mountain laurel, instead of water, is uphill 25', the longest
par 3 on the back nine.
Hole
#13 - Par 4 - 386 Yards
"The Chute" - Our "Chute" is uphill 65' and has
a great view from the tiered green. The difficulty of this hole is eased
by using the green as a backboard.
Hole
#14 - Par 3 - 121 Yards
"The Stadium" - Our "Stadium" hole is par 3, uphill
40'. Accuracy is at a premium on this hole.
Hole
#15 - Par 5 - 542 Yards
"The Gorge" - The second shot here is over a gorge easily
the most terrifying shot in all 18 holes.
Hole
#16 - Par 4 - 400 Yards
This par 4 has a split level fairway after carrying a wetland to the
benched landing zone. Further, the shot to the green must traverse a large
grass swale.
Hole
#17 - Par 3 - 166 Yards
"Redan" - Don't be fooled by length. This great par 3 is the
most difficult on the course because it rises to an elevation of 2,039'.
Hole
#18 - Par 5 - 503 Yards
"Forever" - #18 is a downhill par 5 with the best view of
all. You can see forever from landing area #1. A go-for-it green finishes
the round.
